I have so many characters that can raid that I can feasibly spend all my week's playtime doing it. That's the whole point of having events vomiting mats/books at us, the free powerpasses, etc. Getting a character to the various raids can take a long time depending on how long you've been playingīut it's actually much faster to get brand new characters and brand new players raid-ready. FFXIV is a game that's significantly more strict about how it wants you to interact with its systems LA has many more systems but you're free to tackle them as you please. Whereas with FFXIV if you don't cap tomes, miss your roulettes, don't do your weekly raids, you objectively fall greatly behind due to how the gearing systems work. You don't need to do all of those things to be relevant/caught up/able to do all content. But reaching endgame is as simple as being max level and spending a very small amount of Gil (gold) on some dirt cheap items and instantly being viable for the end game (of which the game does not force you to do any if you don't want to be locked out of future things).Īnd so on that all need to be done per character Getting a character to the various raids can take a long time depending on how long you've been playing and much gold/resources you have to just throw around at upgrades.įF14's biggest hurdle is the MSQ, which is something you can tackle at your own pace pretty freely. This is on top of the numerous "horizontal" progress which can be extremely helpful to power and needs to be done while managing everything else. Yeah sure there's lock outs on tomes/raid drops, but Lost Ark has Raids, dailies (that actually matter), weeklies, a large amount of raids you need to do and on multiple characters, chaos dungeons, Guardian raids, events, and so on that all need to be done per character which is 6 for a standard account now that we've had all these boost. So so so so many modern gamers don't, or can't, and I'll never have the heart to blame them while the game design itself does absolutely everything to keep them there. I took a long break but that's because I've learned to control myself from necessity so i recognize my fun and do my best to take it while skirting the addiction. I was addicted to something a long time ago and it's fucking evil and insidious how unaware you are of it happening to you.Īnd before someone gets smart on me and asks why I play, actually I haven't played for a month since I'm abroad and LA isn't worth playing on my ancient laptop. It fuckins sucks reading shit like this, man. People defended fucking Yoz's Jar because "they really liked the skins" and it just never occurs to people that maybe what you should want to have isn't the shiny apple on the tree but actually a step ladder from the devs to get you up there without having to climb. What's even worse is that some of this very subreddit, people who are on average way more informed and knowledgeable, not particularly casual, don't realize it. It's kinda like people saying to gamblers to "just stop spending money bro", sure it's the logical and smart thing to do, but the institution of gambling itself is meant to incentivize you to oeep spending. Obviously you can be zen and play half a character and have your own brand of fun but the game's design is very much to incentivize more. Hope you all enjoy this great game and keep the community great. Since the game felt more of a work to me than entertainment due to my own FOMO and the self-need of being top tier, I'm here to say farewell to the game and all the good people here. Im here typing this just to thank the community to be great(at least 90% of the people I meet) and to say how great of the game is. It's fun, funny, challenging, but after the first week of clown I just realized I simply don't have that much time to do every content while maintaining my real life stuff.( school, family) Lost ark is truely game of the year for me with all the elements a MMO should have, and not to mention the raids are all well designed even with the clown raid. I've always been a hardcore MMO player when in WOW and now LA, so it's impossible to convince me to go casual and play on rest bonus, because I just can't stand the feeling of miss out stuff or not be in the top tier. But since recently I've got into MBA program and still have a family to look after it seems I just don't have that much time to spend on LA. The game has been so much of a fun and I've spent so many time on it everyday and do every dailies because it was fun. I've played for 2.3k hours since launch(some are just afk) and built up my roster to be 1505/1480/1450/1445/1415*2.
